TILTING AT TURBINES
WALDEINSAMKEIT in the castle parc of Wildenburg
The untranslatable feeling of Waldeinsamkeit,
Godspeed Dear Don, committed an absurd act of chivalry, and tilting at Wildenburg windmills
In search of common roots or a sense of belonging
An invasive windmill with very imported textures colonizing the local hunting tower becomes the target of rewriting for a recently debaptised Don.
Winterfur ritually sacrificed during a spring ritual reunites in the shape of a powerfur for the present Virgin, along with a rag tree imposed on the cross. An old family photo album from a trip to Don Quijote’s windmills at Mota Del Cuervo resurfaces
Powerfur
Cryptochristianimist Fur
Smudge The Path
A Recently Debaptised Don
An artificial island of an enormous oak tree, two smaller trees on the opposite side, a statue of Virgin Mary and a wooden cross. Reassembled fragments of powerfur for the present Virgin.
In between the two trees I hung a line I inherited from my grandaunt’s allotment to create a herb garden, displaying the props for my rituals in my collection of plastic bags of pharmacies.
Tilting At Turbines
In a similar manner of targeted Catholic site rewriting, we see cases of green colonialism today in Norway. Indigenous Sapmi lands are targeted for the installation of wind turbines to generate green energy. The indigenous people are forced to ‘contribute’ to the green revolution, dismissing their livelihood.
On the Wildenburg site several hunting towers are present.
Finally I performed rewriting through my own form of handstyle gardening, temporarily in character as artist as Don, for which I grew a little beard.
An Absurd Act Of Serving
Back on the island, Jules Labath and I performed a ritual together including a smudge, serving of Urs Geest by Bart Van Dijck and an exercise in seeing each other as mirror image. We got carried away by the book of Don Quijote and reenacted poses based on the illustrations of Gustave Doré.
